This last week saw a lot of events. However, you might have been preoccupied with life’s numerous responsibilities. Here are some noteworthy highlights for your benefit.
Serena Williams’ Final goodbyes
Earlier this week, in a painfully beautiful letter, tennis star, Serena Williams, announced her retirement from the sport. She stated that her reason for retiring was to add to and grow her family; something she feels she cannot do while playing tennis. What was supposed to be a bittersweet farewell, was more bitter than sweet as many people took to the streets of Twitter and took her letter’s content a bit out of context. And yet another gender war was born.
Copenhagen Fashion Week
The Copenhagen Fashion Week came back with a bang this past week. There was so much to see; from incredible street style fashion to size-inclusive collaborations. It was quite the show as featured designers and brands made it clear that they did not come to play.
Virgil Abloh lives on
The fashion world experienced distressing times when the shocking news of iconic fashion designer, Virgil Abloh’s passing came in November last year. Many celebrities, colleagues, friends, and fans celebrated the incredible life he led in various ways. And over the past year, people have continued to celebrate him and his legacy. This time, it’s the luxury department store, Nordstrom that’s heading the celebration. In partnership with the late designer’s estate, Concept 018: Virgil Abloh Securities was born to commemorate the versatility of the designer in the creative space. And it is the newest edition of Nordstrom’s pop-up series. Nordstrom took it a step further by committing to supporting the Virgil Abloh™ “Postmodern” Scholarship Fund. This includes providing opportunities for select students to be mentored by Nordstrom executives.

We sure hope so as they would be wearing the jersey for their first time away against Brentford FC on August 13th. Here’s to wishing them some leprechaun luck in this match and in the rest of their season.
