All-American Teatro at the Met Gala

All-American Teatro at the Met Gala; Following the red carpet, A-listers entered the Met Gala for cocktails and, of course, more photos. Take a look inside the fashion industry’s biggest party of the year.

Theme for the Met Gala Teatro

The theme for this year is “Gilded Glamour,” which is inspired by new York’s Gilded Age when excess and egocentrism defined both the decades and the fashion. Millions of immigrants arrived as skyscrapers began to sprout, adorning the New York skyline, forever altering the city’s cultural landscape.

The theme was chosen to recognize American contributions to fashion. “The stories not only depict the evolution of American fashion, but they also look at the work of individual tailors, dressmakers, and designers,” Andrew Bolton, head curator of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, told Vogue.

Red carpet experience at the Met Gala

If you’re wondering what this theme means for the red carpet, look no further. Let’s say celebrities went back to the Gilded Age (1870-1900) and embraced lavish ensembles with a hint of lavishness and onset drama.

There was plenty of glitz in the form of corsets, tasseled hems, wafting gowns, and more.

The show was hosted by Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Regina King, and Lin-Manuel Miranda, and here are a few of the celebrities who were on the guest list for the All-American Teatro at the Met Gala.
